I have to overcome the fear of a blank page...

Jason Becker

Jason Becker, (born July 22, 1969) is an American neo-classical metal guitarist and composer. At the age of 16, he became part of the Mike Varney-produced duo Cacophony with his friend Marty Friedman. They released Speed Metal Symphony in 1987 and Go Off! in 1988. Cacophony broke up in 1989 and Becker began doing solo work, having released his first album Perpetual Burn in 1988. He later joined David Lee Roth's band and recorded one album with him. However, Becker's success was hampered by his then-diagnosed Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and was given three to five years to live. In 1996, Becker eventually lost the ability to speak and now communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father. Despite his disability, he continues composing by using a computer.

The Dresden Dolls

The duo formed the day after Brian Viglione witnessed Amanda Palmer perform solo at a Halloween party in 2000. Their live performances soon gained them a cult following. During these performances the two band members often wear dramatic make-up and fancy clothing which push their cabaret/theater aesthetic. They encourage fans to become involved at their shows, with the fans' own stilt walking, living statues, fire breathers and other performance art becoming an integral part of the show. The Dirty Business Brigade coordinates the fans' performances.

My favorite album is The Dresden Dolls (2004)

Negrita5 - 672

Avant-Gard Metal music?

Diablo Swing Orchestra

The origin of the name of the band is related on their website. The back-story recounts a historically questionable ancestral story beginning in 16th century Sweden. Supposedly, ancestors of the band members performed orchestral works in defiance of the ruling church at the time (possibly in reference to the newly installed protestant Lutheran national church, in power during the mid and late 16th century). The orchestra was forced to go into hiding, performing in secret, with the assistance of oppressed peasants during the era. After years of performing for the pleasure of these peasants, the story claims that the church put a bounty on the performers lives, and that this bounty was so high that the orchestra knew they would soon be captured, and thus chose to play a spectacular final show before becoming martyred to the church.

Diablo Swing Orchestra is a Swedish avant-garde metal band. A song I recommend from the following album: Wedding March for a Bullet

Mortal Clay

"Mortal Clay's music is heavily rhythmic and decidedly left-field, in an
inventive, individualistic, style that doesn't tip its hat overmuch to any particular set of generic conventions. It pulls in fragments of folk, elements of industrial. There are strange sweeps of electronics and interludes of neo-classical ambience followed by outbreaks of pumelling drums. Guitar feeds in and out, voices come and go. It's organic and flowing, staccato and technology-driven. If they have folk clubs in the future, this is the stuff that you will hear therein."-Nemesis To Go. From
Mortal Clay's My Space
